Addressing a Common Struggle with Sleep
Challenge
Millions of people around the world face difficulties when trying to fall asleep, especially in a dark room or when they need time to unwind. Moonset sought to tackle this issue in a way that had not been explored by the current market of sleep aid apps, which often lacked simplicity and elegance. Together with my iOS developer friend, we envisioned creating an app that combined beautiful, clean visual design with a highly functional solution, offering users a unique way to ease into sleep.
A Simple, Soothing Sleep Aid
Solution
For the MVP phase, we focused on developing a simple, user-friendly iOS and iPadOS app that prioritized a delightful user experience without overwhelming users with too many features. The goal was to create an app that was both useful and intuitive, while still leaving room for future enhancements. Although we had plans to introduce more fun features later on, we chose to keep the initial release straightforward. The app’s concept was inspired by the gentle light of the Moon, with a signature feature that helps users wind down before bed. Moonset allows users to set a gradually fading light that simulates a peaceful transition to sleep. Users can choose a time frame between 0 to 60 minutes for the light to dim, and adjust the initial brightness level to their comfort—ranging, creating a soothing, personalized bedtime experience.
A Calming Path to Restful Sleep
Results
While Moonset is still in development and hasn't been launched yet, the solution is shaping up to help users transition into sleep with ease. The app's gentle fading light, combined with customizable brightness, offers a relaxing environment, helping users unwind and drift off faster. The app will soon be available on the App Store, and we’re excited to see how it improves the bedtime routine for those who struggle to fall asleep in complete darkness or need a peaceful signal that it's time to rest.
