Challenge
No True Step-by-Step Cooking Apps
Cookta was a greenfield startup with a bold vision: to
revolutionize the way people cook and share recipes. While many
apps claimed to be beginner-friendly, they often lacked true
step-by-step guidance, leaving novice cooks struggling with vague
instructions, imprecise ingredient measurements, and unrealistic
time estimates.
Beyond just providing recipes, we aimed to create a true social
cooking experience, where users could cook together, share their
creations, and engage with a community of like-minded home chefs.
Our guiding principle? "Every chef deserves an audience." Whether
a beginner or a seasoned cook, everyone should have a platform to
showcase their culinary skills.
Solution
A Simple, Social & Delightful Cooking Experience
To bring this vision to life, we designed a beginner-friendly and
community-driven cooking app that made learning to cook easy, fun,
and social. We focused on step-by-step guided cooking, ensuring
clear instructions, precise measurements, and accurate time
estimates so that even first-time cooks could follow along
effortlessly.
Beyond learning, we built the foundations of a thriving community
of home chefs, where users could share their own recipes, upload
originals, and remix others’ creations. To enhance usability, we
introduced personal cookbooks, allowing users to save and organize
their favorite recipes. Finally, multi-platform accessibility
ensured a seamless experience across desktop, mobile, and tablet,
making Cookta the go-to cooking app for every home chef.

creations. By providing structured, step-by-step guidance, we
empowered beginners to cook with confidence. The video tutorials
